Our Process: What to Expect.

Applying directly with the life insurance company is the easiest and fastest way available to aquire quality term life insurance coverage for you and your family. Please read the following flow chart below to learn about what to expect when using our process:

1) To start, you can either call us for a quote or get an instant quote on your own by using our automated term life insurance quoting engine.

2) Once you receive a quote from us, you have the opportunity to apply directly with the life insurance company. You can do this by either clicking on "Request Application" next to the company that quotes the best rate or you can tell us over the phone and we will start the application process manually.

3) After you have initiated the application process, the customer service department of the insurance company you have chosen will be calling you within the next few days to conduct a twenty-minute interview. Your job is to be ready to take that call by having the following information ready:

  • Your driver's license number and state.
  • Information on existing life insurance if applicable. (carrier, amount, year issued, and policy number.)
  • Name and address of your employer. (If you are a homemaker, please state so.)
  • Your annual household income.
  • Your approximate gross assets and liabilities.
  • Names, addresses, SS#s, and dates of birth of all beneficiaries.
  • Name, address, and phone of your Primary Care Physician.
  • Medical history of any serious medical problems.
  • Names of any prescription medications you take and dosages.

  • 4) During the interview, the insurance company will set an appointment for you to meet with a medical examiner at your home or at work. The medical exam is free of charge and typically consists of medical history questions, blood/urine specimen, blood pressure/pulse readings, and height/weight readings. Sometimes additional requirements are necessary, such as an EKG. It is recommended that you schedule your exam early in the morning because test results are often better at this time.

    5) After the insurance company conducts their interview, they will overnight you their completed paper application for you to sign and return. Please be sure to attend to this promptly, or the policy approval process will be delayed.

    6) Once you return your application to the insurance company and complete your medical examination, it typically takes them 2-5 weeks to underwrite and approve your policy. During this time, the insurance company will request an Attending Physician Statement from your doctor. If your doctor responds promptly with the Attending Physician Statement, the length of the approval process can be greatly reduced.

    7) When the insurance company finishes their underwriting-approval process, they will extend to you an offer. This offer will include the amount of coverage, the length of the policy term (e.g. 10, 15, 20 years.), and the rate at which they have approved you. If the insurance company deems that you are a healthy prospect for a life insurance policy, they will likely match the rate they initially quoted you. If the insurance company sites a health issue which they deem to increase their risk, they will likely offer you a rate that is higher than the rate they initially quoted you. In any event, you will have the opportunity to accept or reject this offer.

    8) If you accept this offer, the insurance company will send us (Redfish Insurance Group, LLC) your policy and we will deliver it to you. Also, bear in mind that you have a money back guarantee period (typically 15 days from the day you receive the policy) in which you can send the policy back for a full refund.
